SOUTHINGTON - A New Britain man has been charged with knocking someone unconscious during a dispute inside a local business.

Alexis Medero, 34, allegedly punched the victim in the face inside the Party City store, located at 750 Queen St., on Feb. 27, according to police.

Police said Medero had gone to the store sometime between 11:30 a.m. and noon to speak with the victim regarding “recent issues between them.” Police have not released any information about the victim, including age and gender.

The punch knocked the victim unconscious for several minutes. The complainant was taken to an area hospital and treated for facial injuries.

After the dispute, Medero fled the store and could not be found. Police made contact with an acquaintance of his, and he later turned himself in.

Medero faces charges of second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. He is free without having to post bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court next Monday.
