No injuries in standoff with armed man in Southington

SOUTHINGTON - A man barricaded himself in a house and fired one shot at police Saturday afternoon, police reported. No one was injured.

Police were called about a man with a gun inside 60 Long Lane at 3:50 p.m., a release from Lt. Stephen Elliot said.

No one else was in the house at the time, Elliot said.

Police responded and the area SWAT team, the Central Region Emergency Response Team, was activated, Elliot said.

After firing the shot, the man was talked out of the house and taken into custody, Elliot said.

The man was taken to an area medical center for evaluation, Elliot said.

The incident remains under investigation, Elliot said.

The identity of the man is not being released at this time, Elliot said.
