SOUTHINGTON – Town residents will have a new restaurant to pick from when looking for late breakfast, lunch or dinner options.
The construction of a new Wendy’s was approved by the Southington Planning and Zoning Commission after a special meeting on Wednesday.
Rob Phillips, director of planning and community development, said the restaurant will be located at 1799 Meriden Waterbury Road in a green space in front of the movie theater.
According to Mike DelSanto, chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, an application was received from the developer but the matter was tabled on the June 18 meeting.
Wednesday meeting was held to speed up the process and the application was unanimously approved because it met the town’s regulations.
Both Phillips and DelSanto said the development will improve the town’s tax base.
