Summer’s here, school is out and there’s three months of sunny weather to take advantage of before the New England winter returns. With longer nights and warmer temperatures, there’s plenty to do.

Throughout the summer

Southington Music on the Green

Wednesdays, May 29 to Sept. 4

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Town Green, Southington

Free live music for all ages to enjoy. Each week features a classic car show preceding the concert. Rain dates on Thursdays.

Southington Drive-in

Saturdays June 1 to Oct. 26

6 p.m.

995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, Southington

Enjoy a movie from your car at the Southington Drive-in, with flicks every Saturday from Indiana Jones, to Tangled, to Weekend at Bernie’s and more. Southington residents pay $12 a carload; non-residents pay $18 a carload. Walk-ins are $2 each. Cash only. Concessions sold. Movie list can be found at

Plainville Summer Concerts

Tuesdays, June 4 to Aug. 6

Southington Farmers Market

Fridays, July 5 to Oct. 25

3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Town Green, Southington

With vendors including Rooster’s Rise from Berlin, Mister B’s Jerky from Southington and more, there’s something for everyone. The UConn Extension program will also be present to answer gardening and plant-related questions. Story Time at the Southington Library will also run.


New England Reptile Show

Barnes Museum, Southington

Enjoy dishes from local Southington restaurants and experience history at the Barnes Museum. Live performances and entertainment. Restaurant details TBA.

Bottom Feeder Brewfest

Saturday, Aug. 10

1 to 5 p.m.

Kinsmen Brewing Co., Southington

All lager and seafood lovers are invited. 19 participating breweries, including City Steam, Fox Farm and Relic. Sauced will be providing the seafood. Admission is $40 ($20 if a designated driver.) Over 21 only. All proceeds go to Connecticut Fund for the Environment: Save The Sound. Tickets available on Eventbrite.

Aug. 23-25

Hot Air Balloon Festival

All day

Norton Park, Plainville
