SOUTHINGTON -- Firefighters on Tuesday morning responded to a local home where an underground propane tank was leaking.
The fire department, shortly before 9 a.m. via its Twitter account, said units were responding to Hunters Lane for a propane tank that was struck and leaking.
The leak was reported at 85 Hunters Lane, an unoccupied home in a neighborhood still under development. There, firefighters on scene said, a construction machine ran over the top of the underground tank, breaking the valve.
The leak was contained until a private propane company could siphon the propane out of the tank and into a truck. The leak was expected to be cleared sometime around 11 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
