SOUTHINGTON – The Board of Education recently completed an evaluation of Superintendent of Schools Tim Connellan, rating him highly in all areas.
Connellan’s evaluation was based on his performance in the district from July 1 2018 through the close of the 2018 to 2019 school year. He was evaluated based on the following standards: board-superintendent relations, community relations, personal relations, educational program, business matters, professional leadership and personal qualities. The Southington Board of Education determined Oct. 10 that Connellan met or exceeded expectations in all of these areas.
Brian Goralski, chair of the Board of Education, said that the Board “recognizes and values Mr. Connellan’s leadership in all areas of his work.
“Mr. Connellan’s quiet, steady leadership is making the ‘Vision of a Graduate’ the focus of our school community,” he said. “The Board appreciates Mr. Connellan’s humble, calm and focused approach to his professional practice as the Superintendent of the Southington Public Schools. His passionate dedication to the education of every student is the best indicator of his effective leadership. The board looks forward to continuing to work with Mr. Connellan.”
The following is Southington’s “Vision of a Graduate”, as identified by the Southington Board of Education:
“A graduate of the Southington Public Schools will be college or career ready and prepared for life beyond by mastering the knowledge and demonstrating the skills to communicate effectively think creatively and critically and contribute to the global community.”
Goralski added that Connellan accomplished all of the goals that he set for the 2018 to 2019 school year. These goals included the following:
. Providing an education for 21st century skills
. Continuing to align the curriculum to the district’s ‘Vision of a Graduate’
. Completing phase II of the district’s school enrollment study with Milone and McBroom
. Collaborating with town officials on developing the capital improvement plan
. Reconvening the school’s civil rights committee,
. Facilitate the work of the district-wide technology committee and technology department
. Develop the School Safety and Security Plan
. Creating a school budget to support the continued improvement of programs and services
. Continue to explore ways to leverage cooperation and collaboration with other school districts and regional education centers.
