Traffic Thursday morning was backed on Interstate 84 in Southington because of road work, according to the Department of Transportation.
The department around 8:30 a.m. reported that the work would be done in the area of Exit 32.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the DOT reported traffic buildup in that area. A Connecticut traffic camera around 10:30 a.m. showed a massive amount of cars backed up.
One motorist reported that it took 45 minutes to get from Southington to New Britain.
According to the DOT, road work is also being performed on Route 9 in New Britain, near Exit 25.
