SOUTHINGTON – Digital media company Rebel Interactive Group has begun to strategize on the most effective ways to market Southington.
Rebel Interactive, which moved to Center Street above Ideal Tavern in 2016, was awarded a contract Monday by the Town Council. They were given a budget, not to exceed $44,000, with which to highlight the best the town has to offer.
Company owner Bryn Tindall said he is honored to have input in how the town market itself.
"If you think about Glastonbury, where I lived before moving to Southington, it is known for having many quality restaurants and a place to go for a night out," he said. "Southington also has a lot of great restaurants, and more by number than Glastonbury. There are also great destinations like Mount Southington and Lake Compounce. There's quite a bit happening in Southington that most aren't aware of."
Tindall said he will also promote the fact Southington is easily accessible by the highway from the north, south, east and west. A further selling point, he said, is the fact Southington has numerous popular department stores in town.
Tindall plans to meet with "key stakeholders" and get them involved in the process.
"We want them to have a voice in this," he said. "We will then distill that information into an overall direction."
Tindall said he aims to promote Southington using social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
"It will be a very visual promotion," he said. "Most media has moved to having more visual or video components along with a description. We've shot some drone footage which we will use for this purpose."
Rebel Interactive Group creates video content, develops mobile applications and assists with social media and search engine marketing. They serve national and international clients. Tindall said previously that their goal is to “stay on the cutting edge of digital design with creative, outside-the-box thinking.”
