New Britain has two residents die from coronavirus, nearly 70 new cases; Southington has one virus death

New Britain had two residents die from coronavirus-associated illness, while Bristol and Southington both one had death, according to state health officials. There were 48 additional deaths statewide for a total that has now reached 6,774.

New Britain has had 163 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 120, Newington 90, Southington 68, Plainville 31, Berlin 26 and Plymouth five.

There were 38,960 covid tests reported Thursday with 1,662 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 4.27%. There was a decrease of patients hospitalized with the virus over the past day, as the total dropped by 55 to 1,069.

Locally, New Britain has an additional 68 residents that tested positive for the coronavirus over the past day for a total of 7,183.

Bristol had 36 more residents that tested positive for the virus over the past day for a total of 3,955.

Southington had 20 additional positive cases among residents Thursday for a total of 2,422.

Newington had a dozen new coronavirus cases among residents over the past day for a total of 1,969.

Berlin had 10 more residents that tested positive for the virus Thursday for a total of 1,108.

Plainville had seven additional positive cases among residents over the past 24 hours for a total of 1,045.

Plymouth had four more residents that tested positive for coronavirus over the past day for a total of 616.
