Southington girls tennis falls to Westhill in last match of regular season

GREENWHICH - Southington sophomore Abby Murphy paved the way for the Blue Knights during their last match of the season.

Although Murphy won her match, it wasn’t enough for Southington to take the win. The Blue Knights fell to Westhill 5-2 Saturday afternoon ar Greenwhich High School.

Murphy defeated Maddie Kaba, a strong opponent, in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.  

The other remaining Southington winners came at No. 3 doubles in which Gianna Wadowski and Emma Wojcicki soundly defeated their opponents, Alexa Smeriglio and Almira Kastrati 6-1, 6-1.  

Southington completed their season with a record of 14-5.  

Murphy will be continuing her season for the Blue Knights at states this week.

Southington also has a pair of doubles teams that will continue on at the State Open match.

Carolyn Callahan and Chantelle Gimenez as well as, Samantha Barmore and Madison Beaudoin will all be competing.
