BRISTOL – Bristol Eastern boys basketball (1-3) won their first game of the season Thursday night, defeating Wolcott 58-36 in the consolation round of the Bristol Central Holiday Tournament.
Eastern’s Nasir Walker-Jenkins dropped 27 points in the win, with both sides swapping the lead early in the game before gaining a lead entering halftime at 31-22. In the second half, Eastern broke away as Wolcott scored its first basket from the floor late in the fourth quarter with 1:14 left in the game.
Also scoring in the win was Elijah Borgelin and Lukas Sward, both with nine points. Isaiah Lawrence-Bynum and Naseem Walker-Jenkins had six and five points each, respectively.
Southington 47, New Milford 32: Southington boys basketball (1-4) picked up its first win of the season Thursday night, beating New Milford in a 47-32 final.
The Southington boys were led by 12 points from Ryan Hammarland and 11 points from Aidan Buck. The Blue Knights led by one entering the half at 13-12, and extended the lead through the second half with a 21-point third quarter to create a cushion
