NEW BRITAIN - State Rep. Bobby Sanchez (D-New Britain) has retained leadership roles for the 2017 Legislative session. Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington) has named him assistant majority whip and reappointed him House vice chair of the Education Committee.

Sanchez picked up a new assignment as a member of the Labor & Public Employees Committee and will continue to serve on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding, as well as the Higher Education & Employment Advancement Committees.

Aresimowicz said, “Rep. Sanchez has been a strong voice for his community and the entire city of New Britain, and his new leadership roles will provide even greater opportunity to serve his constituents. I look forward to working with Bobby, and I know his commitment and dedication will be assets as we face the challenges ahead.”

“Serving as vice-chair with my colleague state Rep. Andy Fleishman and the rest of the Education Committee is one of my most rewarding experiences as a lawmaker,”  Sanchez said. “Education is the foundation of our communities, and being able to help shape policies to benefit our children and students across the state is a great honor.”

Bobby Sanchez has been representing the 25th District in New Britain since 2011.
