NEW BRITAIN - Golfing is one of America’s most popular past times. Enjoying a hot and sunny day by hitting a tiny ball across a beautiful sea of green remains a cherished and beloved way to spend a leisurely day for many.
Stanley Golf, located at 245 Hartford Road in New Britain, has everything advid and beginner golfers need for a day on the green. There are 27 holes to conquer with golf carts, lessons, a pro shop, a restaurant and more on the scene to assure everybody who comes by has an enjoyable day on the course.
Stanley Golf has been around since 1930 when Alix W. Stanley donated hundreds of acres of land to the city of New Britain. A portion of that land became the golf course that has been operating for the past 88 years.
The team at Stanley Golf offers individual or group lessons for people of all ages and abilities. A driving range is also available for practice and the pro shop carries shoes, clubs, balls and more.
Anyone wishing to join a club can also become a member of a Men’s Club, a Woman’s Club or a Senior Club. The Senior Club is only available to men age 55 years or older. Various events are offered for each club that are held throughout the year.
Food and beverages are available at the new Back Nine Tavern, which is a full restaurant available overlooking the golf course that offers everything from hot dogs to chopped salads to lunch and dinner entrées.
Despite its 88 years, the golf course has been kept in pristine shape. Renovations have been done recently to many courses and a GPS has been added to every golf cart.
