NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Police say a car crashed into the Mill River in New Haven and one person is dead.
Police say the car with a body inside of it was found in the water early Sunday near Grand Avenue Bridge.
Police say it appears the car went through a fence and into the water.
Authorities are on the scene and are investigating.
The New Haven Register reports that the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is also on hand because of oil from the car spilling into the river.
Officials say the body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
