NEW MILFORD - U.S. Sen/ Chris Murphy announced Monday that Ball & Roller Bearing is “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.”
Ball & Roller Bearing has been in business since 1906, offering design and manufacturing services for precision bearings that can be built specific to each customer’s needs.
The 7,000-square-foot facility at 46 Old State Road has nine employees.
The veteran-owned company serves many industries such as the military, transportation, paper and textile, agriculture and railroad.
Ball & Roller Bearing has a complete line of spherical roller bearings, ball thrust bearings, journal roller bearings, cylindrical roller thrust bearings, and cylindrical radial roller bearings.
“Ball & Roller Bearing and many bearings companies like them are the reason why Connecticut is home to the best that manufacturing has to offer.” Murphy said. “Their consistent business model and quality products have stood the test of time. I’m happy to highlight their work.”Â
According to Ball & Roller Bearing’s website, the small business is a U.S. approved government bearings supplier that complies with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) and Mil Spec requirements. In addition, the company’s heat treating operations and heat treated materials are inspected upon arrival to ensure compliance with the required hardness.
The manufacturer also makes sure pieces are made properly and go through a visual inspection before they are cleaned and shipped. The company serves the original equipment manufacturer as well as the industrial power transmission aftermarket and sells its products directly to manufacturers and through its nationwide system of distributors.
“From the early days of this century, Connecticut has been home to many bearing companies. For many years, companies like Ball & Roller Bearing, Torrington Company in Torrington, New Departure and Fafnir, and more recently RBC, Heim and Barden have kept the world turning with their products. Because of the quality of the skilled labor force here, these companies provided the bearings critical to the needs of manufacturers like General Dynamics, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky and other defense contractors. All of these bearing suppliers played a significant role in our country’s successes from World War One and World War Two up to the present,” David Nohe, president & CEO of Ball & Roller Bearing, said.
