UConn forward Eric Cobb was suspended indefinitely from the basketball team Monday for what the school called “conduct detrimental to the team.”

Cobb exchanged some rather harsh words with UConn coach Kevin Ollie at one point during the Huskies’ win over East Carolina Saturday, though it’s not clear if the suspension is due only to that specific incident. Cobb did not play in the second half.

A UConn spokesman said Cobb’s future with the team will be determined by Ollie. It’s unclear how long the suspension will last but it seems unlikely that Cobb will play for the Huskies when they host Central Florida Wednesday night.

Cobb, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, is in his first season with the Huskies. He has played in 11 of UConn’s 12 games, starting five. He’s averaging 2.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.

A 6-foot-9, 280-pound junior, Cobb came to the Huskies from Chipola College in Marianna, Florida. He began his collegiate career at the University of South Carolina.

Cobb played in 24 games as a true freshman for the Gamecocks in the 2015-16 season, averaging 1.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.

He was arrested at the tail end of that season in Columbia, South Carolina, for a pair of “property crimes” with a BB gun. He applied for a diversionary program for first-time offenders and paid a $620 fine.

Before the current season began, Cobb insisted his transgressions were behind him.

“I learned from my mistakes, and it’s not gonna happen again,” Cobb said Sept. 13.

Cobb isn’t the first UConn player to be suspended this season. Junior guard Jalen Adams was suspended and missed one game following his arrest after a minor crash while driving a scooter on campus Nov. 8. Adams’ charge of evading responsibility was later reduced and he paid a $50 fine.
