The UConn womenâ€™s basketball team has suspended team activities on Tuesday evening after a member of the program tested positive for covid-19, the school announced on Tuesday.
â€śThe UConn women's basketball program has temporarily suspended team activities after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19,â€ť Tuesdayâ€™s announcement read. â€śPer university protocol, team activities will remain on hold for at least 14 days and will resume when it is deemed safe by medical professionals.â€ť
The Huskies were scheduled to begin the season on Saturday with an afternoon game against Quinnipiac, which has now been canceled. A game scheduled for the following day against either Maine or Mississippi has also been canceled. A Dec. 4 game against Louisville has been canceled as well, while a Dec. 6 game against Seton Hall has been postponed. The university said any scheduling updates will be announced at a later date.
The earliest UConn can now begin the season is Dec. 15 at home against Butler.
