Plantsville Congregational Church, 109 Church St., will hold its 27th annual Ye Olde Country Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Look for handmade crafts and stitchery, homemade canned and baked goods, a gingerbread village, cookie walk, Christmas room, gift baskets, jewelry, books, a silent auction, quilt raffle and much more in our church hall. Outside, there will be two tents filled with “attic treasure” bargains. A delicious luncheon is available. The Newington Historical Society invites the public to join in its Open Hearth Cooking and Tasting and Weaving Demonstration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Kelsey House, 1702 Main St. Admission is free, but any donation would be appreciated to support the historical society. All food will be prepared by the Society’s Program and Hospitality Committees. The Weaving Demonstration will be on the 19th Century barn loom. The weavers will take you back to when Evelyn Lester, a child of 10, sat with her mother at this barn loom, which had been in their family since 1840. Donations of non perishable food will be accepted for the benefit of the Newington Food Bank.
