FARMINGTON - Tunxis Community College marketing professor Amy Feest was chosen from among seven Connecticut Community College nominees as the 2017 winner of the Connecticut Board of Regents System Teaching Excellence Award.
Feest received the award last month at the Board of Regents meeting, in recognition of her outstanding teaching and for promoting instructional improvements within her program.
“We are proud to recognize Amy’s contributions to Tunxis and her commitment to the growth of the business program and our students,” said Tunxis President Cathryn Addy.
A professor of marketing and coordinator of the business administration program, Feest began teaching at Tunxis in 2010. She has led curriculum revisions of the business program to streamline advising and transfer for students. She has also developed an accelerated business program certificate and associate degree designed for working adults.
At the same time, Feest worked on business transfer policies with other Connecticut state colleges and universities in creating seamless transfer agreements for students. She has also fostered student engagement in clubs and activities designed to enhance student experiences in the business program.
In 2016, Feest facilitated the creation of a food pantry to provide short-term food assistance to those Tunxis students who are experiencing financial difficulties and she continues to provide support for that initiative.
She has taught a variety of courses at Tunxis including “Introduction to Business” and “Principles of Marketing,” and oversees students in their business internships.
“I am honored to receive this award for teaching,” said Feest, who lives in Cheshire. “The individuals I am privileged to work with through Tunxis’ business administration program are some of the most amazing faculty, students and alumni. They inspire me to always try to move our program and my teaching to new heights.”
