NEW BRITAIN - Lenny Oknonya saved one of his best performances of the season for the Innovation boys basketball team’s Senior Night.
After he was honored during the pregame ceremonies, Okonya dropped 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Ravens to an 89-53 rout of Bolton on Tuesday night.
“It was a great way to honor our seven seniors” Innovation head coach Matt Lance said.
Okonya’s 22 points tied for the team lead with Carlos Gonzalez, who added six assists, while LJ Hazelwood joined Okonya in the double-double club, scoring 10 points to go along with his 15 rebounds.
Innovation (18-2) dominated from the opening tip, taking a 30-point lead into the halftime break while holding the Bulldogs to just 17 points in the first half.
“I was happy with the way we defended in the first half,” Lance said. “That’s where we’ve been focusing on getting better. We have to take that and play consistent defense for four quarters. That’s what you have to do to win in the postseason.”
The Ravens’ postseason begins on Friday when they host the CRAL semifinals.
