NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain baseball team continued to make improvements at the plate on Friday afternoon, but those improvements are still slow and steady, as the Hurricanes’ bats couldn’t find the explosive inning they needed.

New Britain’s winning streak ended at the hands of Wilbur Cross and starting pitcher Andrew Marrero, who held New Britain to just four hits and carried a 6-2 lead into the seventh inning.

Marrero also ripped a double at the plate to contribute to the Governors’ eight total hits.

Shortstop Danniel Rivera had the lone extra-base hit for the Hurricanes, as he finished the day with a double.
