Person struck by car
FARMINGTON — A person was struck by a passing car early Thursday after getting out of a car that had been struck by a drunken driver.
The name and gender of the victim were unavailable Tuesday. The person was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital.
Ryne Townsend, 24, of Meriden, was arrested for operating under the influence and failure to drive right in connection with the car crash.
Police said Townsend struck another vehicle on Route 6 at around 5:16 a.m. and he and at least one occupant of the other car got out of the vehicles and stepped into the roadway.
“The other person was then hit by a passing car,” Lt. William Tyler said.
Two people were in the car that Townsend struck, Tyler said. It is unclear Tuesday which person was then struck as they were standing in the road.
Townsend was charged and then turned over to Newington police on unrelated charges. Tyler said police are still investigating the crash. Townsend is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on the Farmington charges.
