New Britain man fatally shot in Bristol
BRISTOL — A 24-year-old New Britain man was shot and killed on Davis Drive early Sunday morning.
Police said the department received several 911 calls around 1:42 a.m. regarding a shooting on Davis Drive in the Cambridge Park public housing area. When police arrived they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the name of the victim, but relatives have identified him as Freddy Felix of New Britain. Felix’s mother, sister, fiancée and several other family members from New Britain, drove to the crime scene Sunday and waited from dawn until dusk for any more information from the police. While waiting, they said Felix was a good person.
“He was always out there with his family,” said his aunt, Yolanda Nunez, of New Britain. She said he had a 3-year-old daughter and 7-year-old stepson.
Felix’s fiancée, Luz Diaz, was crying as her sister, Miriam Diaz, tried to comfort her.
“He left two kids behind and a beautiful woman,” Miriam Diaz said.
Family members said Felix, who was a graduate of New Britain High School, had just turned 24 and was planning on attending school for truck driving. Prior to that, he spent most of his time with his family.
They said Felix went to Davis Drive with three friends for a party after leaving Paris’s Sports Bar on Divinity Street. One relative heard that there may have been an altercation at the bar, but the bar’s owner, Paris Allison, said there was not.
Allison, who has owned the bar for six weeks, said Felix stopped at the bar for its Halloween party on his way to another party. A bartender said Felix didn’t even have a drink — that she only served his friends, and even though it was a costume party, they weren’t wearing costumes. The owner said he’s trying to clean up the bar’s image since it previously housed the Watering Hole, which had a negative reputation.
Detectives from the Bristol Police Department, along with members of the State Police Major Crimes Unit, are handling the investigation.
The State Police Major Crimes Unit set a trailer up at the main crime scene in front of the Boys and Girls Club Cambridge Park Unit.
Down the street from this crime scene was a black car with a gunshot hole, shattered back windows and what appeared to be dried blood on its exterior. The car was left parked in front of the Bristol police substation and blocked off with yellow police tape. Police said the car was left still running with its headlights and windshield wipers on Sunday afternoon. A Bristol police officer sat in his cruiser, guarding the gunshot car and the area.
Police have not released any more information regarding the car, the shooting or any possible suspects.
Felix’s family questioned why the police substation, which was just a few blocks down from the shooting, was not staffed when the shooting occurred. They wanted answers as to what happened.
Anyone with more information on this crime should call the Bristol Police Department at (860) 584-3000.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Thank you State and Bristol Investigators for capturing a cold blooded murderer.
Instead of the ignorance of certain people -the community of Bristol and surrounding towns can sleep better knowing that a cold blooded murderer is off the streets and not hiding in your back yard whether it be a rich/poor/white/black.
Regardless of all the bad talk about the town and its people and/or outsiders, if you do not like what is happening in Bristol, remove yourself from it (you have control of your life and not that of others). "

He stood up for something now he's dead.
What is more valuable? Your life or your street cred?
Wow, Freddy has great street cred. Oh, but oh yeah, he's dead.
Wake up you ignorant people of New Britain.
Get your priorities straight.
Would you rather raise your son as hus Father or be a lost memory of a "hero" (loser) "

Looks like we just got rid of two street thugs, the dealer and the killer. I feel sorry for the family and for his kids if he had any, but they're probably better off and might have a chance now that they won't learn the drug dealing trade from their father. "
