Man charged with holding 2 pounds of marijuana
NEW BRITAIN — A Sunrise Avenue man was arrested on drug charges Thursday after Special Services Unit members found more than two pounds of marijuana and a loaded pistol in his home while executing a search warrant, police said.
The drugs were found in the home of Erik Peterson, 28, of 130 Sunrise Ave. along with a loaded .9 mm pistol and $1,650. Police estimated the street value of the marijuana to be $9,650. Peterson has prior felony convictions making it illegal for him to possess a gun, police said.
He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of over four ounces of marijuana with intent to sell, criminal possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school or public housing project.
Peterson was held on $450,000 bond until his appearance in New Britain Superior Court Friday. He was held on $500,000 bond after his arraignment and is scheduled to return to court Dec. 1.
