NEW BRITAIN — Police are still looking for a former city man they believe was with Carlos Perez when he allegedly shot a 27-year-old victim during a robbery on Arch Street Nov. 5.

Perez was charged Sunday with attempted murder and robbery. He is being held on $1.5 million bond. Police are holding an arrest warrant for Angel “Angelito” Figueroa, 25, with a last known address of 508 Black Rock Avenue, in connection with the same incident.

“He didn’t shoot anyone but we believe was with the person who did,” Lt. James Wardwell said. “The victim is lucky to be alive.”

The victim, a 27-year-old city man, has been released from the hospital. The robbery and shooting occurred outside on Arch Street at night. Perez and Figueroa targeted the victim and it wasn’t a random street robbery, Wardwell said.

Police are still looking for Figueroa who is described as a Hispanic male, five-feet, six-inches tall, with black hair and green eyes, weighing 180 pounds. Figueroa will be charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny when he is taken into custody.

Anyone who may have information on his whereabouts is asked to call the New Britain Police Department at (860) 826-3000.

" Considering all the increased violence that has been occurring here in New Britain post Stewart’s ‘budget constraints,’ maybe the new motto for New Britain should be, “New Britain – you’re lucky to be alive.” "

" To Tee's comment. You must live in a very nice area of nb like maybe near the resevoir or by the college. Have you ever been held at gunpoint by a criminal. 2 family members of mine have and 1 moved out of the state because of the incident and didn't want his children to fall victim of this type of crime.
