Few new coronavirus cases across area, but New Britain and Plainville both have resident die from virus

New Britain and Plainville both had a resident die from coronavirus-associated illness, according to state health officials Wednesday. There were a total of five virus deaths reported statewide for an overall total of 8,161.

New Britain has had 210 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 136, Newington 100, Southington 94, Plainville 38, Berlin 31 and Plymouth 10 since reporting began.

There were 17,891 coronavirus tests reported Wednesday with 187 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 1.05%. There was a decrease of 28 residents hospitalized with coronavirus for an overall total of 243. There are 70 residents currently in Hartford County hospitals.

New Britain had two new coronavirus cases reported over the past day and has had an overall total of 9,548.

Bristol added one new coronavirus cases since Tuesday and has had an overall total of 5,931.

Southington had no new virus cases over the past day and has had 3,673 cases overall.

Newington had no additional cases reported since Tuesday and has an overall total of 2,696.

Berlin had a decrease of one case reported over the past day and has an overall total of 1,567.

Plainville had two new cases since Tuesday and has an overall total of 1,565.

Plymouth had no increase over the past day and has an overall total of 950.
