New Britain goes over 8,500 in coronavirus cases among residents; Southington has virus death

New Britain went over 8,500 in coronavirus cases among residents, Bristol is close to reaching 5,000 and Southington had a virus-associated death, according to state health officials Friday. There were 10 virus deaths reported statewide for a total overall of 7,832.

New Britain has had 196 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 130, Newington 101, Southington 92, Plainville 36, Berlin 29 and Plymouth 9 since reporting began.

There were 42,075 coronavirus cases reported Friday with 1,207 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 2.87%. There was an increase of 18 residents hospitalized due to covid-19 for a total of 402. There are 83 residents currently in Hartford County hospitals.

New Britain had 19 new coronavirus cases over the past day for a total of 8,507.

Bristol had 20 new virus cases Friday for a total of 4,982.

Southington added 18 new virus cases for a total of 3,153.

Newington had six new virus cases for a total of 2,443.

Berlin had 10 more virus cases for a total of 1,379.

Plainville had four more virus cases for a total of 1,349.

Plymouth had seven more coronavirus cases for a total of 789.
