Following a 7-0, undefeated regular season, the Central Connecticut womenâ€™s soccer team is set to begin postseason play on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils will battle South Florida in the first round of the 2021 Womenâ€™s College Cup in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Coming off its third straight Northeast Conference Championship in its 4-0 win over Long Island on Apr. 16, CCSU led the conference with 119 shots, 41 points and 15 goals during the regular season. The Blue Devils proceeded to take home all six major conference awards for the first since 2006.
Freshman Kelly Brady paced CCSU in points with 11 and also tied for the team lead in goals with junior Roma McLaughling with four strikes.
Junior goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan has been the primary starter for the Blue Devils, compiling 13 saves and has not allowed a single goal in 540 minutes of game action.
South Florida also did not lose a game in regulation this season, finishing 9-0-2, on the way to its second consecutive American Athletic Conference title.
Sydny Nasello is the Bullsâ€™ top offensive threat, posting 17 points and a team-high six goals in 10 games, while Sydney Martinez has allowed four goals and stopped 29 shots in 11 games as South Floridaâ€™s starting goalkeeper.
The Bulls earned ties with Florida and Cincinnati.
The matchup is set to begin at 3 p.m. as the first-ever contest between the two programs.
