NEW BRITAIN – Greeting summer with activities for New Britain youth, the New Britain Public Library has a variety of programs for kids to be involved in.

The Summer Reading 2021 program is back, where tweens and teens entering grades 6 through 12 can read books and share reviews, earning a free book for each review shared. Sharing reviews also enters readers in for a prize drawing, with prizes including three gift cards and one grand prize, an Oculus Quest 2. The more each participant read and review, the higher the chances that the reader could win.

For those interested, they are encouraged to stop by the library’s Teen Room to pick up a summer reading starter pack with bingo activities, bookmarks and temporary tattoos. Grab and Go Activity Kits for rainbow heart keychains are also available to kids at the Teen Room. All materials and instructions will be provided in the kit.

Outdoor activities are also available. For those who are interested in some Anime Trivia, join fellow fans at the library’s front lawn at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 22.

This will be the first in-person Teen Program in more than a year, so the library is encouraging everyone to drop by to spend time with friends and find out what the library has to offer this summer. If they compete in the trivia, they will get a chance to see who knows the most about popular anime series and take home a Summer Reading starter pack.
