The New Britain baseball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday with an 11-7 showing over East Hartford. The Hurricanes are now 1-1 to start the young season after winning their first game of the year at Beehive Field.
New Britain went to work on the base paths, finishing the game with eight stolen bases including two for Elian Collado. Yan Hernandez picked up two hits on the day to lead the Hurricanes from the dish as they poured in 11 runs in the contest.
Nathaniel Kumm allowed two runs in his four innings of work and tossed five strikeouts against the Hornets before being relieved by Jomar Rodriguez and William Estronza.
The Hurricanes will look to start a winning streak Saturday with a home game against Berlin.
