New Britain has eighth most coronavirus cases in state, adds nearly 40 new cases over past day; plus area updates

New Britain has the eighth most coronavirus cases among residents in the state, while Bristol has the 12th most, according to state health officials. There have been 8,248,401 covid tests performed in the state overall with 329,062 coming back as positive cases.

There were 46,768 coronavirus tests reported Friday with 1,062 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 2.27%. There was a decrease of 19 in state residents hospitalized with the virus for a total of 486. There are 110 residents in Hartford County hospitals.

New Britain has had 202 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 133, Newington 100, Southington 94, Plainville 37, Berlin 30 and Plymouth 9 since reporting began. There were five virus deaths reported statewide Friday for a total that has reached 7,995.

New Britain had 39 new coronavirus cases reported Friday and has had an overall total of 9,063.

Bristol added 28 new coronavirus cases since Thursday and has had an overall total of 5,639.

Southington had five new virus cases over the past day and has had 3,497 cases overall.

Newington had an additional two cases reported Friday and has an overall total of 2,639.

Berlin had six new virus cases over the past day and has an overall total of 1,509.

Plainville had three new virus cases reported since Thursday and has an overall total of 1,484.

Plymouth added one new coronavirus case over the past day and has an overall total of 899.
