Gas prices in the state and the region remained level this week, according to AAA Monday.

In Connecticut, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.88, which is the same as last week. That price is down two cents since the same time last month and up 90 cents at this time last year. The national gas price is $2.87, up one cent from last week, down a penny from last month and up $1.06 at this time last year.

“Gasoline stocks have increased in the last month amid lower crude oil prices and, as a result, motorists have benefited from mostly flat gas prices,” said Amy Parmenter, spokesperson for AAA in Greater Hartford. “However, crude started to see some upward movement this week, which could translate to small increases at the pump by the end of the month.”

In the Hartford region, the average price is lower than the state and national price, at $2.84. That is the same as last week.

Locally, according to the website Gas Buddy, the prices are even lower in many cases.

In Bristol, there are seven gas stations selling gas for under $2.70 a gallon. The lowest are at the Marathon and Hess stations on Farmington Avenue and the Shell on Middle Street, which are at $2.67.

In New Britain, there are two under $2.70, with Costco selling for $2.57 for members and the Irving on Newington Avenue at $2.67.

In Newington, there are six under $2.70, with three at $2.61 and Sam’s Club for members at $2.57. The Citgo, Sunoco and Xpress Fuel on the Berlin Turnpike are all at $2.61.

In Berlin, four gas stations are under $2.70, with two at $2.61. The Citgo and Gulf on the Berlin Turnpike are the lowest reported prices in town.

In Southington, there are four stations selling gas for under $2.70, including the lowest being BJ’s for members ($2.65), Go Happy on the Meriden Waterbury Turnpike ($2.67), TA Travel Center on the Meriden Waterbury Turnpike ($2.67) and the Gulf on West Street ($2.69).

In Plainville, there are two stations at $2.65 or lower. VP Racing Fuels on East Street is at $2.63 and the Gulf on New Britain Avenue is at $2.65.
