One year ago the state had 1,385 covid hospitalizations; today that number stands at 309; plus covid case updates

One year ago, there were 1,385 state residents hospitalized with coronavirus. Friday, one year later, there are 309 residents currently hospitalized with the virus, according to state health officials. That number is 15 less than a day ago.

There were 31,335 coronavirus tests reported Friday with 436 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 1.39%. There are 80 residents with coronavirus in Hartford County hospitals. There were six coronavirus-associated deaths reported statewide, but none from the area for the fourth straight day. The overall total stands at 8,137.

New Britain has had 209 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 135, Newington 100, Southington 94, Plainville 37, Berlin 31 and Plymouth 10 since reporting began.

New Britain had four new coronavirus cases reported over the past day and has had an overall total of 9,483.

Bristol added seven new coronavirus cases Friday and has had an overall total of 5,905.

Southington had five new virus cases over the past day and has had 3,654 cases overall.

Newington had an additional nine cases reported since Thursday and has an overall total of 2,690.

Berlin had two additional cases reported over the past day and has an overall total of 1,561.

Plainville had five new cases since Thursday and has an overall total of 1,558.

Plymouth had an increase of one case over the past day and has an overall total of 947.
