This program offers opportunities for students to experience bold, innovative, and engaging enrichment visual, performing arts, and STEAM enrichment activities. The morning at the Hill-Stead Museum will offer “screen-free” activities to students like painting outdoors, writing poetry in the sunken garden, and dance/music classes in the makeshift theater. Students will also interact with their outstanding collection of artworks, including French Impressionist paintings, Japanese woodblock prints, botanical prints by Albrecht Durer, and etchings and drawings by various notable artists. The afternoon at Farmington High School will focus on performing arts such as dance, African drumming, Chinese strings/percussion instrumentation, and theater. Students will engage in the exploration of art through technology in activities like game design and animation, as well as traditional studio arts like clay, drawing, and painting. Midday bus transportation between sites will be provided. Students should bring a water bottle. Lunch and a snack will be provided. Schedule: 8:00 - 11:00 The Hill-Stead Museum 11:00 - 12:00 Lunch / Transition 12:00 - 3:00 Farmington High School Parent Pick-Up / Drop-Off: Parents are to drop-off at the Hill-Stead Museum each morning no earlier than 7:50 AM Parents are to pick-up at Farmington High School each afternoon at 3 PM Transportation: Busing will be available to/from Vance School in New Britain, Linden Street School in Plainville, and Rawson Elementary in Hartford each day.
