New Britain has coronavirus-associated death; Plainville, Newington, Berlin, Southington case updates

New Britain reported a coronavirus-associated death, its 211th overall, according to state health officials Friday. There were five virus deaths statewide for an overall total of 8,173.

New Britain has had 211 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 136, Newington 100, Southington 95, Plainville 38, Berlin 31 and Plymouth 10 since reporting began.

There were 32,583 coronavirus tests reported Friday with 365 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 1.12%. There was a decrease of 24 residents hospitalized with coronavirus for an overall total of 198. There are 56 residents currently in Hartford County hospitals.

New Britain had 15 new coronavirus cases reported over the past day and has had an overall total of 9,578.

Bristol added 13 new coronavirus cases since Thursday and has had an overall total of 5,953.

Southington had no new virus cases over the past day and has had 3,675 cases overall.

Newington had one additional case reported since Thursday and has an overall total of 2,700.

Berlin had one case reported over the past day and has an overall total of 1,568.

Plainville had six new cases since Thursday and has an overall total of 1,572.

Plymouth had no increase over the past day and has an overall total of 951.
